Finally 18!
After years of uncertainty about the development of construction sites in City Nord and the painful loss of four fairways due to U5 construction work, we have finally reached an important milestone: We have again 18 holes!
A lot of work has gone into this, as we had to do some things. A new core team has been formed and has worked hard on implementation. Planning and permitting procedures were just the first step. After a year of hard work, we are proud that our Disc Golf Course in Hamburg has finally reached tournament size again.
We have added four new holes, removed one old hole, and moved another to a different location. Additionally, we renovated two tee pads and set up new signs.
The Front 9
Hole 1 is gone for good. Too often discs landed in the bushes, which led to unpleasant surprises.
Old hole 2 is now hole 1 and has been pushed further forward along the construction fence. This greatly reduces the risk of flying over the fence.
Hole 3 remains unchanged as hole 2.
The new Hole 3 that some players already know from tournaments, is a narrow corridor along the plane tree alley to the left, which also represents the OB zone.
Hole 4 got a new tee pad. The old artificial turf tee pad was almost unplayable in the meantime.
Hole 5 remains unchanged.
Hole 6 has also received a new tee pad.
Hole 7 is still the same.
The new hole 8 is located on what is called "Hundewiese" and offers a straight drive into a shallow valley. Please be aware that this hole should be played with particular caution, as the political situation there is tense. We ask all players to respect the rules of the course and local legislation.
Hole 9 has not changed.
The Back 9
At the modified hole 10, the tee from the bridge was moved down to the construction site and the basket is further forward at the small wall. Unfortunately, we had to close this iconic tee, as the trees in front of it have grown so much that a shot from there became impossible or even dangerous, so we had to prioritize the safety of all and take this step. However, don't be fooled - the new hole 10 has its own challenges!
Holes 11 and 12 remain unchanged.
To the existing three holes (Holes 13, 14 and 16) in the east wing of the course, which only changed through newly defined OB lines, we have now added hole 15. This one has some special obstacles in the target area: a notorious chasm is waiting as an OB zone for players who shoot far to the left, and also behind it can be quite difficult to have an unobstructed look at the basket.
Hole 17 with its two mandos remains unchanged.
Hole 18 is relatively easy and offers a pleasant conclusion to the round.
The new numbering turns the entire layout so that we have a genuine Front 9 (Holes 1-9) and Back 9 (Holes 10-18). This way, after completing the Front 9 you can take advantage of the opportunity to buy something at the gas station, use the toilet or simply take a break on the nearby park "islands".
We hope you all have a great time on the new course!
We are planning upcoming events and tournaments on the course, which you all can participate in. If you have questions or suggestions, we are happy to be available.
